Nearly $2 million will now be available for economic development in St. Lawrence County after Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed legislation that allows proceeds from the sale of a block of hydropower from NYPA's St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project to be used to help create jobs and build industry in the region.
State legislative leaders have reached an agreement allowing the St. Lawrence River Valley Redevelopment Agency to sell the unused portion of its low-cost power allocation and use the proceeds to spur economic growth in St. Lawrence County.
St. Lawrence River Valley Redevelopment Agency now accepting applications for the 2014 Community Development and Environmental Improvement Fund. The RVRDA has allocated up to $506,330 for the 2014 CD/EI Fund. Applications are due by 5:00 PM on March 31, 2014.
The St. Lawrence River Valley Redevelopment Agency and the St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency Local Development Corporation members approved grants and loans totaling $538,092 for 11 Community Projects aimed at Economic Development.
